Main Page error reports

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 07:38 on 1 October 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Errors with "In the news"

The current picture is linked to a BLP with many unsourced claims. I'll suggest giving Maggie Smith's face one last run before the new PM's ready. A lot of people worked fairly hard on that one. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:48, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not the place for me to be doing this, but, I support this! Would be a good WP:IAR to attempt. Ktin (talk) 06:15, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An admin wouldn't have to ignore the rule, only enforce it (I don't know which is usually harder). InedibleHulk (talk) 06:27, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As I noted at the nomination, I'll note again; this article was not proposed by anyone and nobody supported it besides whoever posted it. InedibleHulk (talk) 06:34, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unless I'm mistaken, Bagumba? InedibleHulk (talk) 06:38, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Guys, the rules are that the bold linked article has to be up to scratch. No such rules apply to other links. That said, if there's consensus, I'm happy to give the actor's photo another run. Note that I've also suggested for her blurb to not be the next one to drop off, as it got posted a lot later than the blurbs above. Schwede66 07:13, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Three days of mourning is enough for anyone (in my opinion) and I'm willing to wait for Bagumba, but don't tell me (or yourself) there's not a rule against spreading unverifiable information about a person who's not old enough to drink in some places (not that universally recognized adults are fair game or anything). InedibleHulk (talk) 07:20, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If there's something unverified in a BLP, please go ahead and remove it. Schwede66 07:25, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Will Ashcroft is the article I mean. Look at all those chunks. I'm a copyeditor, not a wholesale butcher, and I think it easier for everyone if you simply switched pictures, leaving the overall story intact (for another day). InedibleHulk (talk) 07:36, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in "Did you know ..."

  • ... that Henry Kailimai and his Hawaiian Quintet were hired by Henry Ford to serve as official musicians for the Ford Motor Company?

@Kimikel, Johnson524, Nineteen Ninety-Four guy, and RoySmith: small nitpick, but they don't seem to have been "official musicians for the Ford Motor Company" exactly. The city council journal (reliable source?) describes them only as "[Henry] Ford's resident musicians", while Ukelele doesn't mention anything of the kind. Both sources do say that they played at lots of FMC events, though. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 07:17, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I remember looking at the sources to verify the hook, but don't remember exactly what I found. It might have been Ukulele Magazine where it says "They regularly played ... at Ford company events" and later talks about the "Ford Motor Company Music Department", which sounds official to me. RoySmith (talk) 13:02, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had about the same thinking as RoySmith on this one, if there's an issue I apologize. Cheers! Johnson524 14:15, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Passionfruit

Shouldn't the article in front of passionfruit be an "a" instead of a "the"? Ciao Pentaclebreaker (talk) 06:44, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
